Small request from Patty

From my mom: Now that Walter is at St. Mary's I think that it would be fun to see who is reading the blog for updates on Walter. Please go to comments and sign your names with a quick message. When he comes home, he will be reading this blog. To do this, choose an identity (will be other), and then after you type in your message to the right in the square, press publish your comment. It will be fun to see where in the world people are reading this blog. Lindsay just informed me that she will bring her laptop to St. Mary's and he can read the good wishes himself. Thank you and please start this round of cheers. Luv you all-Patty

From Lindsay: I spent some time with my dad yesterday afternoon. He slept most of the time but he did wake up to have some dinner (though he was not happy about it) and we had a short conversation. He seems ready to start therapy and really wants full use of his legs again. I am so excited for all the progress he will make!

We are so glad to hear that you are finally at St. Mary's. We know how much you want to get home so keep up the good work and hopefully you'll be there by July 4th. We are thinking of you and praying for your speedy recovery. Lots of love to you and your family.

Dear Walter:

Tom and I are so happy to hear of all the progress you have made. We continue to read the daily blogs. We are hoping to visit with you eventually. We must wait until our viral illness is gone. All the grandkids were sick and of course we got it too. We are still under the weather, but this is nothing compared to what you have been through. Knowing how stubborn you are though, you will be home in a short amount of time.

Walter keep up the good work. Patty, Brian and Lindsey, we wish you well also.

Love: Tom and Sandi

Walt,
Let me know when you're ready for pizza at St. Mary's and I'll bring in a LaFamiglia pizza for you. Better yet, keep up the good work on your legwork exercises so we can all go there together and you can get it yourself. That day gets closer with every exercise you do!

A message from Bernie and Dick (using Jen's account).
Hi there our dearest Walt. We are truly ecstatic about your move to St. Marys (finally), and can't wait to get up to see you again real soon. You are an inspiration to all of us and we love you dearly. If anybody looked up the word "miracle" in the dictionary, your picture would be there as you have proved to all of us that there are miracles, and none of us should ever give up on hope. We can't wait to have you home hopefully by July 4th. Get well soon. These blogs are so amazing and wonderful to read on your progress throughout each day. All our best and again, we love you. Bernie and Dick

All I want in life is to be able to give my buddy Walter his second "plain" garbage plate from Nick Tahos, see the look on his face, and live to tell about it. I want to make sure he never forgets his friend Tom Wahl

Hi Walt, I've read, and contributed to your blog from Tokyo, San Francisco, Orlando and Washigton DC. I thought you might like to know that the Chinese government did not allow me to access your blog from Beijing. I didn't push it, lest it cause an international incident. You were having enough problems at that time anyway.
Keep on truckin!

Glad to hear Wally is in rehab, the next step towards home. We read the updates every day and it has been like a mini series of ups and downs.Thank God Wally has a wonderful family. We have been going through a real rough time here too including some surgery for Cindy, nothing major but it was on her face which made it a little scary.2 deaths in our family and the loss of 2 great friends have
made life no fun,but we will get by.Hang in there Wally,we are all pulling for you.

Hey, Walter, I have been visiting and keeping in touch thru this great blog space. I'll be happy to go see you at St. Mary's again. I was there the first time you were there. You'll be one of their best pupils, I am sure of it. Patty, I just bought another pretty bottle of wine, that I will bring over to celebrate the move.

Hi Walt,

This is Kathy J, wife of Gino/Cornell. I want you to know Cornell has been spending more time with you than with me!!! So hurry up and get your butt home so I can have him back. :)
You are doing great. Please believe us when we tell you that you are improving by leaps and bounds even if it doesn't seem like it to you. Keep up the big effort and you will get there.

Hello, Walt.
So glad to hear you are off to St. Mary's! I'll tell Ron when I get home...he doesn't always remember to read this stuff. He, Tom Wahl & the boys are anxiously awaiting the day when you can go to Old Forge and hang out with them! Maybe you can get there before we turn the water off for winter.

Anyway, keep going the way you are. Expect them to really give you a work out at St. Mary's. I can tell by these comments that you are up to the task.

Kathy Chapman
p.s. our church in Canandaigua has a prayer group that meets each Thursday and you are always in our prayers. We meet at the hospital there...pretty coincidental, eh?

Saw Walter on the Memorial Day weekend and was amazed at the progress he had made while in the cardiac unit. He really impressed me that day by carrying on a short, but enjoyable, conversation, eating turkey, dressing, carrots and drinking anything and everything they put in front of him - by himself from a cup! I think he was hoping that one of them would have been a cold beer. I also had brought a small 4lb. hand weight with me and he immediately started doing reps with it in his left hand. He asked me how many I wanted him to do.
He was really funny - he asked me at least 3 times what my name was. And then at one point he told me I looked "different." I asked better or worse? And he said "Better!" I took that as a real compliment!

I'm anxious to get up to St. Mary's to see Walter in his new environment.

As for the blog, I read it daily from work on any updates. This has been so helpful to monitor Walter's progress. Thanks for all the efforts made to keep us all updated.

My love to Patty, Lindsay and Brian!

Walt,
Good to hear you are on the upswing. I'm thinking of you and remembering the game of chess we played one day at Demchock's. You know what I'm talking about, you nailed me good. I just want you to know that you are in my thoughts and I am sending good vibes your way from Montana.

I wish you a speedy and complete recovery my friend.

Walter, I'm glad you're feeling better. I'll come see you soon. You were sleeping the last time I came to see you.

Cousin Walt;

The last few times we came to see you, you were auditioning for the lead in Sleeping Beauty (We're sure you got the part). You have come a long way, and we look forward to tipping a few and chuckling over this blog. What an awesome support system you have!! You're one lucky guy, and we love you!

Hi from Wasilla Alaska. I am a friend of Corinne and Rick formerly from Australia. Blessings for your speeeeeeedy recovery. Alaska is almost 24 hours of daylight and it is easy to forget to eat and go to bed until you fall over and an hour later wake up to find it - still daylight and you are late for work. Phew, what a topsy tervy world.
Get well. Love and light. LaVonne
