Walt was busy again at the the physical therapy ward on Thursday morning. We watched and learned as Aaron, one of Walt's therapists, led him through several routines to strengthen his legs. Much of the work focuses on his right leg to bring it up to par with his left. Here we see Walt doing leg extensions with a weight on his right ankle, followed by leg lifts, followed by a picture of Brian getting training in helping his dad transfer from the chair and back.
Today's memorable Walt quote: "I don't drink anymore. I've lost half my personality."

Patty says: What a great day!! Walter was alert as I have every seen him and working very hard in therapy. I was able to transfer him from the mat to the wheel chair with no problem. He used all of his weight and basically I just had my hands ready in case. They said we can bring home next weekend for a day. He also has a "pass" to go to the Criterom on Sat. night downtown. This is a bike race that he goes to every year. It is so exciting that we can get our family life back again. It has been very lonely and strange at home without Walter. We have missed him so much these past 4 months. He also picked up from his long term memory the Colorado Rockies stadium that he visited 10 years ago. The Yankees were playing there and he spoke of the beautiful stadium that they have and the beautiful scenery. He amazes me more and more as the days go by. It is a special gift that we truly appreciate every day of his healing. Thank you to St. Jude for favors received.
Very moving and thrilling to see Walt at therapy. The photo of the the 3 of you together brought a tear to my eye. Enjoy your at home day together. You all are in my prayers for Walt's continued progress and for all of you to have strength. Love, The Lockes'
The photos are great gino. Walt is trying so hard to get the strenght back. We were very excited when he said he would like to go to the races on Saturday. I mentioned them and then he told me about going last year with Rick. he also told me that Tom Wahl's son was racing this year. He was a little hesitant about going as he has been out of action for so long but fingers crossed.
Tom, what time is your son's race? We want to make sure we are there for that. You can call me on 747 3388.
Cheers
Corinne
